DISEASE OF PERCEPTION / COWBOY MOUTH
created by: Sam Sheppard & Patti Smith

Performed September 25-28/2014 – The Box Theatre

Written in 1971 by Sam Shepard and Patti Smith, COWBOY MOUTH is a tale of violent, visceral love that knows no boundaries, no restraints, and no reality. The raw passion of the love affair between Shepard and Smith comes to life through their sinful characters Slim and Cavale, who fatefully meet one day when Cavale decides to kidnap Slim off the streets with an old .45, determined to make him thee Rock and Roll Star. The story of unaltered, unfiltered, fucked up love is relatable to any soul who has ever felt the fiery stings of intimacy and attachment. This burning, quick-tempered piece is paired with DISEASE OF PERCEPTION, an art show one hour prior to the performance of that will feature pieces of various mediums from the cast and crew of the production and multiple other artists. DISEASE OF PERCEPTION also has an audience interactive space, in which artists, spectators and viewers alike can add their own splash to the COWBOY MOUTH set.
